About the Abbey Medieval Festival

Welcome to the 21st Abbey Medieval Tournament on Saturday, 10th July and Sunday, 11th July 2010.

This is Australia’s largest medieval event, a magical spectacle of colour, pageantry, music and chivalrous combat.  There is jousting and archery, sword combats and melees, medieval markets and dance.

The Medieval Festival raises funds for the priceless collections of the Abbey Museum.  Last year, about 15,000 people attended the weekend Tournament and helped fund the development of our new permanent home.

At long last the grass is growing on the new site and we look forward to an exciting new epoch.

We are holding a competition to choose a name for the new site.  If you want to suggest  a name (or names), please email miriam@abbeymuseum.asn.au.  The Executive Committee will make a choice and the winner will receive a free pass to next year’s event.
