Perhaps one of the most evocative and memorable events of the Festival calendar.  In a brief (30 minutes) ceremony in the candle-lit Abbey Church, a squire is raised to the order of knighthood.  The ceremony is based on a 14^th century knighting from Italy.  Members of the Order of Lion Rampant attend in magnificent costumes, and the medieval stained glass (the oldest is Australia) forms a fitting backdrop.
