The famous Abbey Banquet
on
3 July 2010 heralds
the start of the Abbey Festival week. This culminates in
the Medieval Tournament on Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th
July.
TICKETS
are now all sold for this year's banquet. You will
need to book early if you wish to attend next year's
banquet. Admission to the Banquet is by
Pre-paid Tickets only. Tickets available from
the 1st February 2011.
Doors open at 5.45 pm. We ask for all guests to be seated by
6.20 pm for the Opening Ceremony.
For seating convenience your Banquet ticket has been
numbered. The number corresponds to a place setting on the
long banquet tables. Seating is allocated on purchase of
tickets.
Although costuming is
optional, we encourage you to enter into the spirit of the
event and dress to impress.
Parking is in the Bus Park or in close proximity to the Hall
(see FESTIVAL SITE MAP). On entering the Great Hall, you
experience a traditional ritual of washing the hands with
scented rosewater. Once this is completed you are directed
to your seat.
Seating is on long benches at trestle tables. Your ticket
includes a complimentary glass of mulled wine. The Banquet
is fully licensed and wine, beers, cider and mead can be
purchased.
Please note: No BYO.

The procession to the
High Table by your hosts and Guests of Honour precedes the
serving of the first remove.
Your meal consists of two removes, each consisting of
several dishes, and an issue. The Steward of the Feast will
guide you through the manners and customs expected of those
attending a Banquet. Please pace yourself: food will be
plentiful.
Wassail! Enjoy the Abbey Medieval Banquet.
