Entries:
All works submitted must be the original and unaided work of
the competitor and completed within the last 18 months. It
must not have previously won any major prize. Work must be
based on traditional arts and crafts from the Middle Ages.
Time period:
AD 600 – 1600.
Medium:
All period appropriate mediums are acceptable, e.g. fabric,
painting, glass, sculpture, woodwork, bone etc. (NB. Artists
and craftpersons need not grind their own paints or use
traditional tools, etc.)
Entry Fee:
$10.00 per exhibit with a limit of 4 entries per person per
category. All entries must be clearly labelled with artist
name, section, title of work and price (if applicable). If
consigning entries by post or courier please include a
pre-paid freight voucher with entry. This will be returned
if entry is sold.
Closing date:
Entry forms to be submitted no later than Friday 30 May,
2008.
Size:
Recognising that many art works produced in medieval times
were long and narrow and acknowledging the limited display
space available, framed works should not exceed 1m sq.
Display:
Work for hanging must be ready with “D” clips and cord
preferred. Any work that does not comply WILL NOT be hung.
Stained glass must be supplied with a suitable light source.
For 3D pieces in Sections 1, 2, 3 & 5, special display
requirements should be discussed with Helen Barchard (Ph:97
5495 3757) and, where necessary, display devices are to be
provided by the exhibiting artist. In cases where large
pieces are planned to be entered, the organisers may arrange
for alternative sites for display to allow these works to be
included (the Fire Station Gallery has limited display area
for 3D works).

Adjudication and Exhibiting:
All entries will be considered by the official judges. The
judges decision will be final and no correspondence or
discussion will be entered into. The Committee reserves the
right to transfer work to another section if conditions are
not fully met or insufficient entries are received. We
reserve the right to utilise images of artworks entered in
the competition for publicity and promotional work only.
The artists’ work will be appropriately credited.
Insurance:
Insurance of work against loss or damage to, during or from
the exhibition is the artist’s responsibility.
Warrant:
The artist warrants that each and every entry is owned by
and is the original work of the artist. The artist
indemnifies the exhibitor of any breach of warranty or of
any default or defect in any such works. Artists are asked
to provide a story card with background to their artwork.
Receipt and Despatch:
All entries to be received between 10.00 am - 3.00 pm on
Friday 20th June at:

All exhibition works are to be collected from the Gallery on
Monday 14th July (between 10.00 am - 3.00 pm). NB: all
entries must remain on display until the exhibition closes.

Winning Entries:
Winners will be notified by telephone and prizes will be
presented at the official opening on Friday 27 June 2008.
Sale of items:
Masterpieces may be sold by the Gallery. A fee of 25% of
sale item will be incurred. Items sold are to remain on
display during the exhibition and may be collected on Monday
14th July. |
